2012 Summer Camp Overview
June 12-15 Dragon Zone Summer Camp jump start “Mini-Session”
We will be off to a great start this week. Campers will enjoy bouncing and jumping into summer. Some highlights will include scooter day, Jump house, water fun, kickball tourney, giant hopscotch, craft clubs, cooking and science projects. We will also kick off the Livermore Library Summer Reading Game.
June 18-22 & 25-29 Once Upon a Time, A Mystical Journey
DZ Campers will explore classic fairy tales as well as creating modern day versions of their own. This camp will incorporate, fun, fiction and fantasy. We begin our weekly summer field trips for grades 2-MS (movies, bowling, swimming, etc.). On-site craft club and gymnastics or yoga classes will be provided for our younger campers. The first of 2 Family Fun Nights for the summer camps program will be held on June 20th as we attend an Oakland A’s evening game.
July 2,3,5,6 & 9-13 Animal Planet
Join us for a Wild Adventure learning about animals and the great outdoors.
DZ campers will enjoy an animal themed program complete with a reptile show, animal face painting, Camp-out at Del Valle for our middle school students, a pet sharing day as well as our regular weekly field trips and activities.
July 16-20 & 23-27 Oowie Goowie
Its gonna get messy! DZ campers will participate in a multisensory programming experience. Messy art, cooking and science projects provide the perfect fit for the Oowie Goowie Camp Theme. All regular weekly field trips and activities as well as a special onsite show will add to the fun!
July 30-August 3 & August 6-10 Pirates, An Undersea Adventure!
Argh! Mateys, it's gonna be a swashbuckling time as we celebrate all things Pirate. The DZ campers will go on a two week long treasure hunt. Along the way we will explore ocean life, play fun water games, and learn to cook like a pirate (navy bean soup and baking soda biscuits). The second Family Fun Night will be held on Friday August 3rd from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Shadow Cliffs! (DZ will close early at 4pm for this event). This Camp session will conclude our weekly classes and field trips.
August 13-17 & 20-22 Un-Themed Week and Summer Wrap-up
Almost anything goes this week. DZ campers should expect the unexpected. We will plan as we go in emergent curriculum style, calling on our students’ and staff’s creativity and imagination to have a truly dynamic week of programming.
