August 10, 2011

Dear Dragon Families,

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! In just a few weeks we will welcome over 900 enthusiastic students for another year of excitement and learning achievement. LVCS is a school of choice and we are pleased that you have chosen to be a part of our school for your child's education. Today we write to you, our families, asking for your support to maintain our innovative programs.

As we begin our 7th school year, we are proud to have continued our educational commitment to a rigorous standards-based education with numerous enrichment opportunities. While district schools have increased class sizes, reduced staffing levels, and eliminated art and music programs; LVCS has maintained its small class sizes, added classroom and resource staff, and continues to offer art, music, technology, and sports programs at every grade level. The results of these efforts are undisputable. We are preparing your children for success in the 21st century!

While sharing these many successes, we must also share our concerns for this school year. With the state budget crisis and continued deep cuts in education funding we are facing one of our most challenging fiscal years. The many proven programs that we have worked so hard to build are in jeopardy. At LVCS we have always very effectively managed our budget and have done more with less. This year we are being asked to do more with a lot less.

Your financial support and partnership will help us sustain the excellent, innovative programs that distinguish us from other private and public schools. Our goal is 100% participation; every donation to the Annual Fundraising Drive (AFD) makes a difference, regardless of size.

Parent financial support provides LVCS students with:

  • Music and art programs

  • Access to technology in every classroom

  • Math and reading specialists

  • Campus supervision and counseling staff

You will soon receive information about registration for the new school year. As part of the registration process, you will be asked to donate to our Annual Fundraising Drive. If you have donated in the past, thank you for your continued support. If you have not, now is the time; we need your help! Please donate at the highest level you can; there are numerous payment options to fit different family needs. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent provided by law. Our Tax ID is #20-1852481. Thank you for making a difference in your child's future.
